Layout comes before the saw
Recessed lighting only looks effortless once it's in. Before Bretco ever picks up a hole saw, they walk the room and mark where the cans actually need to land: task light over the counter, wash light along a wall, even spacing down a hallway so nothing reads uneven once the ceiling's patched and painted.
That layout pass also means checking what's above the drywall. Joists, ductwork and existing wiring all get accounted for before a single hole gets cut, which is the difference between a clean install and a ceiling full of patched mistakes.

Every room asks for something different
